Nike ⇾ Mercurial Display

We developed and prototyped an interactive retail installation for Nike Store in Beyoğlu, İstanbul with Antilop. For the launch of Nike’s Mercurial football shoes, we installed eleven infrared sensors behind the display window to sense the hand gestures of users which activates the fan hidden inside the display when certain speed of movements achieved.

82″ PlasmaTV was embedded inside the Flyknit scene displaying an animated Mercurial shoe bursting into particals which was controlled by the user input through infrared sensors. When certain speed of hand gesture catched by the sensors the shoe goes off the screen, fan runs and the speed of the shoe actually ripples through the physical Flyknits by revealing the screen showing Nike’s global promotional animations.

We were comissioned by Antilop for the interaction development and prototyping.
